Interested on some thoughts about Amazon and it buying MTS, may be cheap distribution into AU.
MTS: $2b Mkt cap - 1400 IGA's stores
WOW: $34b Mkt cap - 990 Woolies stores (before fuel station roll out)
WES: $50b Mkt cap - 770 Coles stores (appreciate the Mkt cap includes Bunnings, so Mkt cap maybe $10-$15b?) - irrespective significantly higher than MTS
Amazon would pretty much buy food, alcohol and hardware distribution for nothing.
Someone locally has to benefit from their entry. I can't see them setting up their own stores quickly and why would you if you could buy it.
