I’d argue AMC is due to global earnings and does not repatriate the income made overseas to Australia. So it pays the tax offshore. So that article is misleading looking at total income as it has operations all over the world. Equally the head co of AMC is now Switzerland, and listed NYSE. Which just have an CDI listing. Share market listing isn’t representative of the tax domicile. This is why it’s dividends are unfranked.

i don’t know the exact breakdown of net profit or taxable profits of Australia vs rest of the world off top of my head. But it wouldn’t surprise me if they do some charges to lower it. Albeit I wouldn’t expect it’s ‘australian’ earnings to be significantl.

dont see this company as much as a tax cheat given it’s operations and nature of the business.

Tech is bad, low margin supermarkets like Aldi and also Ikea are shockers. Easy to remove taxable profits.
