Because RIO have been involved in Guinea for decades - they have billions of tonnes of a very high grade product that is an itabirite like the Brazilian iron ore which generally is higher grade than the Pilbara iron ore and in demand in China. It's a premium sinter fines product and they even state it can be blended with their lower grade Pilbara products. And if you were RIO why wouldn't you make sure you were positioned in West Africa close to European markets as well as Asia.
