    I concur with your assumption that most of the things in your list are wrong but I do not see GM organisms as necessarily bogeymen. They are protected by some truly insane commercial agreements but some GM crops have been and will continue to become widely accepted. There certainly are many hundreds perhaps thousands of GM crops being grown all over the world.

    Just out of interest...

    Thalidomide actually came from Germany.

    DDT actually came from Switzerland.

    Dieldrin was invented in the USA but the process used in its manufacture came from Germany. In fact the word "dieldrin" is in honour of the inventors of this process, the Diels-Alder Reaction. The chaps who invented it won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
