    On a long term average basis there is little money in any of the products that come out of Whyalla and therefore Bluescope is unlikely to want anything to do with it. An issue if Whyalla happened to close would be all of that material would need to be imported and therefore more of BSLs range may come in on the same boats. If BSL could increase its Market Share by 10% or so they wouldn’t need to export to the USA. Heaps of steel plate, galvanised steel and painted steel is imported each year. The cheap sheds and guttering you see on TV as Australian made are manufactured in Australia using imported steel. If BSL recaptured some of this lost volume it would be a great result.
