for everyone who has spoken ill of this breed, please watch the following

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt8a9kS5sRI

and note the quote near the end, "learn the truth before you speak the lies"!!!!!!

and this second clip the quote "i was bred to never quit" sums them up well. Unfortunately it shows some very confronting scenes(that actually make me feel physically ill) of dogs that have been mistreated and used for dog fighting etc, but it's these morons who give the breed a bad name. Look at the good ones! Eliminate this breed and it will only transfer the problem to another breed. Yes you need to train and socialise them to make them good dogs but you do with all dogs. A rotweiler or other big dog is just as dangerous in the wrong hands

more great quotes from the clip that sum this breed up

"if only you were more like us, you would see that we're not all monsters, just as we know not all of you are monsters!"

"realise its humans who make us what we are AND BECAUSE WE'RE PITBULLS WE'LL BE THE GREATEST AT WHAT YOU WANT US TO BE"

that last bit in capitals really does sum them up. If you want a mean fighting dog, they will do it. If you want a seeing eye dog, they will do it. If you want a search and rescue dog, they will do it. etc etc

As much as people carry on about the fact that they were bred for dog fighting, like the english staffordshire bull terrier, it's the qualities of a fighting dog that make them such great pets. They have a stable temperament, they have no fear, they have a high pain tolerance and they're not human aggressive. All of those qualities are why my 2 year old neice can go up to my dog and pull its tail, ride it like a horse, poke it's eyes etc, and the dog just takes it, or at worst goes and hides somewhere.

Now i admit, i've met bad pitbulls in my time and it certainly aint fun, but a bad rotty is just as bad. Personally, i'm all for licensing PEOPLE to own dogs rather than outlawing breeds. On that note, do some research about the effectiveness of breed specific legislation - IT DOESN"T WORK AND PROVEN SO! but the pollies won't tell you that.
