It's all fine to say that these dogs are all lovely and safe provided that they're nurtured along very nicely etc, but that is an unrealistic expectation or assumption unfortunately, and so a faulty premise on which to base a case against any criticism of that breed of dog.
That simply will not happen, and basically cannot be policed without going to ridiculous lengths, which once again won't happen.
Unfortunately, there will always be people who neglect dogs to varying degrees.
I love dogs, ....have had several of them and have two little ones at the moment. All our previous dogs have been larger dogs....mostly Labradors, although we did have a huge pig dog at one stage, and he was a beautiful animal, but I never felt I could trust him in a situation where a kid might happen to walk up and twist his ear or try to take his bone or something.
There's no argument about the fact that they can be lovely dogs etc..none whatsoever. It's more to do with the fact that they have a history of being slightly unpredictable, and in these instances, their attack seems to be much more vicious and prolonged. Much of what you say supports this. That is the problem.
