This thread make me very very angry. I own a "pitbull" and although he's the staffordshire bull terrier variety i have friends who own the american pitbull terrier(yes you uneducated so and so's go and learn the difference). When they are owned by people who understand the responsibilities of owning such a breed(and that includes both american pitbulls and staffordshire bulls) they are FANTASTIC dogs. They certainly aren't for everyone, but hell, neither is a rottweiler. Any large dog is a potential problem when owned by people who either don't know what they're dealing with(as per the person who started this thread) or have a "macho" attitude toward dog ownership. Ban the american pitbull and you'll only transfer the problem from one breed to another!!!! if only our politicians could get past creating headlines and see this!

I've posted this before, but out of you "pitbull" bashers, who knows that they've been trained for guide dog work? police work? search and rescue work? etc etc AND who has actually done some research on the breed rather than relying on hyped up media stories. The media love a "pitbull attack", sells lots of newspapers, whether it was a pitbull or not is not a problem before creating the headline.

Yes there have been pitbulls that have attacked! I wonder what number they rank on the list of dog attachs in NSW last year? hmmm, number 16 it seems!!!!!!!!!! And even that number is no doubt skewed by incorrect breed identification!

So freewill, lautrec and whoever else, please go and educate yourselves prior to making baseless comments on things you obviously no nothing about! Go and meet a well trained and socialised american pitbull and you'll have a completely different outlook on the breed.
