SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures rallied Thursday as investors grew more optimistic about the global economy after the euro-zone plan to tackle the region's sovereign-debt crisis and cheered economic expansion in the U.S. Crude for December delivery CL1Z +4.15% added $3.76, or 4.2%, to settle at $93.96 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Most energy products settled higher, with natural gas bucking the trend following a weekly government report that showed an increase in supplies in the higher end of expectations.
