NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks retraced their path into gains in choppy mid-morning trading Thursday, with investors fixated on news flow related to Greece's referendum and the European Central Bank's rate decision. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA +1.07% climbed 106.56 points to 11,943.13, with 28 of its 30 blue-chip constituents among the advancers. Erasing the losses they briefly posted, the S&P 500 Index SPX +1.02% was up 8.69 points at 1,246.59 and the Nasdaq Composite COMP +1.20% edged 19.86 points higher to 2,659.93. The recovery from intraday lows came as an Associated Press report cited two officials close to the Greek prime minister as saying that he has scrapped plans to hold a refendum on the European debt deal.
