Has anyone had any surprises in their tax due to this investment?
In the year FY22, they paid out large distributions and I included these in my tax. However the info reported to the ATO is 300% higher than what was payable to me.... The registry (Link Market Services) for Betashares are saying that the info provided to the ATO is correct and I am expected to pay tax on the 300% higher figure even though it hasn't been distributed to me...
how is that we can be taxed on earnings not received? If the earnings are retained by the fund, surely it should be treated as capital gains attributable to the unit price.... Anyone else had this surprise for FY22??
