We are still 100s of years away from Dilithium crystals. But even the writers on Star Trek have the foresight to see how lithium based resources will become the power source of the galaxy in the distant future. We're at the impasse of a massive energy revolution which will rival the industrial revolution itself and lithium is at its very core will power this revolution for at lest the next 50 - 200 years. $1, $2 , $3 are all too low if the amount and grade of this resources are accurate. The resource is worth far more than that. And Chinese involvement will mean that the US will be less likely to stage a coo or a war. African political unrest is not the problem , those guys can be bought off, its the unknown whale in the room that's the problem the US military, you can't trust those dudes. All IMO..
