Obviously there's a difference between short term trading and long term buy and hold strategies. AMP is profitable, is in a growth business, and pays a good dividend so can't see it fall too much below $5 unless markets really tank.
There's been uncertainty in the superannuation industry (I think their capital inflows were down significantly) and many annuities (guaranteed pension plans) that were purchased by their customers with AMP promising 5 or 6 % per annum for life for retirees would put AMP profits under pressure with fixed interest investments and bonds paying just 1 or 2% at the moment
AMP shareprice will experience large swings during periods of high volatility. It's going to be a fun September
