It does look like the shorters have got it wrong so far over the last few months and will have lost out.

Looking at the last few months of last year it also looks like shorting grew and peaked at a time where shorters would have lost out.

‘The best period for shorters was from late November up until mid Feb and the results. While some shorting activity would have won in this period, bigger losses would have been made in the previous months.

I must admit the increase in shorting now looks a pretty brave call. The CA is likely to cost but not that much. And although I get called a downramper by those who dislike any negative comment, I did call $1.15 or so as the floor price last year (and was wrong) and find it hard to believe it can again drop from here. The $200m or so sustainable npat plus spare capital to distribute supports tge current share price even on a low PE.
