Look, I really dont like AMP as a company and I am short the stock... However...

No single life insurance company would honor that claim... Why would they? If I stop paying my car insurance for 6 months and then have a car crash, there is no way I am going to be covered.

AMP and other life insurance companies make a lot of contact with policy holders that do not pay their premiums but they can only do so much. They generally give about a 2 month grace period before a policy lapses from not being paid, that is generous in itself as it is basically two months of cover for free. They aren't a charity, especially when premiums are calculated based on the pool of policies holders and claim rates etc. If people can just simply stop paying their premiums and still be covered, it will get a whole lot more expensive for everyone else.
