Of course there are costs in running a cash fund. Tax reporting, lodging member benefits, annual statements and a whole range of other admin requirements.
Look at people who have SMSF and simply invest in TD's, they still get charged audit, tax and other annual ATO fees.
These arguments need to consider other matters aside from simple investment work.
