Richie2013 - that is a bit rough on BarnArse. BarnArse has been consistent about position on AMP and as far as I can recall based comments on either available facts or a knowledge of the industry and business.
You don’t have to agree with BarArse’s opinion but I don’t think that criticizing the basis is reasonable.
Personally I am more critical of those who have the public ear - like Morgan Stanley - making calls about how AMP will go up in October with no sound logic for this, and it has gone down since and then doing a valuation based on a sum of the parts which did not stand up my simple analysis or the opinions that had been released in the recent past.
I want AMP to recover. It is for me an iconic business. It is an important business. Hope will not increase the PE ratio, the profit or the growth in profit of retained businesses or the value of businesses that are sold. This is what determines the value of AMP. It is going to be hard work. There is risk in achieving this. The likelihood of quick upside is low.
