While my morals agree with you, my business says you are wrong.
Both SMSL and FMT should be pursued for damages..
why ?
Primarily because, if I was managing the antiLynas strategy, and if if it costs me $0 for defamation, I would encourage my team to do it again and again... Sure Lynas can warn SMSL that next time they will pursue damages, but really, it's a 99% likelihood that they will take that risk and now focus their attention back on attacking lynas with 1/2 truths or untruths... they got 1 free kick and hope to get another.
Same with FMT to an extent, although their business manager may be more savvy and know that next time, they will not get off so lightly.
If it costs you a lot of sleepless nights, you will think twice.
