Every man and his dog working under the umbrella of some sect or other claims to correctly interpret the Book of Revelation. On the point of being fooled, I suggest that you don't be fooled into believing Watchtower's interpretations - their failed prophecies should serve as a red flag to warn you that their narrative of "the last days" is wrong.

During the cold war, the USA and Russian possessed enough weapons to destroy each other many times over. It is reasonable to assume that neither pressed the button to start the war because both sides knew that the result would probably be mutual annihilation. They even had measures in place to ensure that a war wasn't accidentally started. No such man made measures existed to prevent WW1 and WW2.
       
Arms controls have never been effective which is made clear by the arms in control of numerous rebel and terrorist groups. Circumventing arms controls are examples of some people outsmarting other people - there is no evidence of a God in control.
