If say an exploration company was drilling in a remote area and the market was waiting for results, do you think it's a good idea to contact people in the town who are not part of the company to see if there is any buzz in town? Would it be leaked in the pub or should I assume that things are a bit more professional than that and any significant find would be tightly guarded?

Also, apart from the ethical issues, is this a legitimate source of information on which to trade, or is it bordering on insider?

    Cheers.
