Allow me to let an old friend of mine -descendant really- by the name of Aristophanes, who, in his delightful but very lusty play "Peace" has one of the characters say to another, "never shall you be able to make smooth the prickly back of porcupines!" So it is with the avarice and the lust for war in humans. We are prickly beings in many respects and just as porcupines are by nature so, so are we.
