So the 2 releases that the Apple version are ahead are for the security certificate, which is quite a comlpex task. The first revision ahead is the security certificate and the second is fixes for the security certificate (as far as I could tell). When Android gets the update we will get the advantage of already having those fixes in place, but we might get a few other weird problems specific to the OS.
Doing it this way lets the developers focus on getting it working right as quickly as possible without the other side being stuck with problems for longer than is needed. Although i wish they did Android first.
