A Lonhro fan has $2 million riding on the champion to win Saturday's George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill.



The same fan apparently staked $1 million on the champion racehorse to win the Australian Cup last month, taking home $1.5 million.



If Lonhro wins, the same punter will profit by $1.7 million.



Darwin based Sportingbet Australia accepted the bet at odds of $1.85.



"We have been negotiating for 24 hours or so, mainly on the horse's price," the agency's Michael Sullivan told The Daily Telegraph newspaper.



"He wanted to have $2 million on the horse and we have agreed to terms.



"This is the biggest bet I have ever taken."



The punter is believed to be an Australian businessman based in Hong Kong.



Saturday's race is part of the Golden Slipper Day meeting.
