re: an interesting "deal" jason ?? Jason. Just a little more on the "Meridith Coporation", to help you play 'catch up'.

But ??? Hang on??? ........... Wasn't it you who said that NO one reads Better Homes & Gardens??? (They do in China, it seems??)

Meredith Corp. is a diversified media and marketing company with a long tradition of service to the home and family market. Operations primarily consist of magazine and book publishing, television broadcasting, and interactive and integrated marketing.

The company publishes 17 subscription-based magazines, including Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies' Home Journal, Successful Farming, WOOD, Country Home, Traditional Home, MORE, and Midwest Living. In addition, it produces about 170 special-interest publications. MDP also publishes about 300 home and family service books that are sold primarily through retail distribution outlets. In December 2002, the company acquired American Baby Group, a publisher with titles geared toward mothers-to-be and young mothers. American Baby's magazines include American Baby, First Year of Life, Childbirth, Healthy Kids en Espanol, Primeros 12 Meses, and Espera. American Baby produces television shows; owns six consumer sampling programs; provides custom publishing; and owns the American Baby Family Research Center and two Web sites. The company expected the acquisition to attract younger readers (particularly young families), and to help tap the fast growing U.S. Hispanic market.

Retail brand licensing efforts began in 1994, when MDP granted a license to Wal-Mart Stores to operate Better Homes and Gardens Garden Centers in its U.S. stores.

In addition, GMAC Home Services, Inc. is licensed to use the Better Homes and Gardens trademark in connection with residential real estate marketing. Multicom Publishing is licensed to develop and publish CD-ROM titles based on MDP's editorial products.

Reader's Digest Association is licensed to market MDP-trademarked products. Global Vacation Group Inc. is also a licensee for vacation packages to selected destinations. The company also has marketing relationships with Sears, Home Depot, Carnival Cruise Lines, and DaimlerChrysler.

The company owns 11 network-affiliated TV stations, including WGNX-TV (CBS-Atlanta); KPHO (CBS), Phoenix, AZ; WNEM (CBS), Bay City-Saginaw-Flint, MI; KCTV (CBS), Kansas City, MO; WSMV (NBC), Nashville, TN; KVVU (FOX), Las Vegas, NV; KPTV-12 (UPN) and KPDX (FOX), Portland, OR; WHNS (FOX), Greenville, SC-Asheville, NC; KFXO (FOX), Bend, OR; and WFSB (CBS), Hartford-New Haven, CT.

MDP's consumer database contains more than 60 million names, making it one of the largest domestic databases among media companies. The database enables magazine and TV advertisers to precisely target marketing campaigns. In addition, the company has an extensive Internet presence, including 24 Web sites, and multi-year alliance agreements with leading Internet providers America Online and Microsoft Network.

Meredith announced in January 2005 that it plans to launch its first non-English magazine with a Chinese language edition of Better Homes and Gardens that is scheduled to debut in late summer 2005. Meredith signed a multi-year licensing agreement with SEEC Media Group of Hong Kong to publish the Chinese edition in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. Meredith is to receive a portion of the total revenues, but other terms were not disclosed. Meredith noted that competition in the home and family genre of magazines is scarce in China.

It is also worth noting from the above, (at this stage), the following:

< Reader's Digest Association is licensed to market MDP-trademarked products >

Some shareholders may recall, that "Reader's Digest", were in fact "seed capitalists" of Looksmart, from the very beginning. (They have 'sold out' since, as I understand).

So Jason, it seems the Looksmart's "Calling ALL Publisher" notice, has certainly NOT fallen on deaf ears!!!

Very soon you will realise that LOK shares were "once", sub $1.00pps !!! - You (and others) will 'marvel' over that fact, I'm sure!!!

Oh, & I'll still be posting here, to remind you ..... LOL !!

But wait !!! There is EVEN more!!!

    :)
