One of my favourites along that line adds these steps after summing the two digits (which as Q2 has correctly shown will always be 9):
Multiply result by 5. You should again, have a 2 digit number. Using the alphabet, 1=A, 2=B, 3=C etc, assign a letter to those digits. Think of a country starting with the first letter, and an animal starting with the second letter.
Then explain to me what an elephant is doing in Denmark...
