I know many of you have this concept of the 'migrants' sitting at home living on welfare dollars.

    Consider the following....

We have a couple of kids at the local selective high school.

There are a thousand students ...950 have both parents born overseas.

Many of these kids began studying for the selective school entrance test (held in Year 6) before they started school.(Tuition every Saturday morning)

Just about every kid at the high school has outside tuition in many or most subjects (some up to 30 hours per week..plus homework)

One mother told my wife it is a 'very lazy' school because the students 'don't get enough homework'

All of the kids we have met have both parents working.. (tuition can cost as much as $120 per hour)

All of the kids we have met live in very modest homes.
In the school holidays, the parents set schoolwork for the kids before they go off to work and check it when they return home.

Their parents regard a score under 90% in a subject as a 'fail'.

All of the kids we have met, (a lot) no matter what their colour or background are as 'Aussie' (or more) in their thoughts and words as our kids.

At least as far as I can see, "dole bludging migrant, welfare cheats" are not the problem facing tomorrow's Australia.

    Cheers,
    Blackpete
