Buying out TON is not an inconceivable option. It would be very lucrative in many ways for the Chinese. That said, I believe that TON, with CC on board will resist such a move as they want TON to be a long term profitable business in their control.
Why hand over such a business when they are mid cycle of taking it from research to production? This phase is what they are working for!
A takeover IMO would make sense 12-24+ months after production has been established to some degree, not before.
