Or, that cube might pay for QE3 and the next round of printing from the ECB which shows just how much money printing is happening in the world.
Currencies are being devalued slowly but surely every day. Sure all the cropland in the US would produce an enormous amount of food, but it also requires capital, labour and fertolisers input to ensure production. Unless you have credit this won't happen easily.
Gold is an asset that is noones liability.
