Although a minority voice in Parliament requested the re-evaluation of all licenses it must be noted again hindering business progress does not seem to be the intent of the new ruling government. As I have posted several times before this government has by all other accounts started to work towards improving investment conditions. Shoring up the bureaucratic processes is another necessary step!

Economy Ministry, IFC outline action plan to improve investment climate in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek (AKIpress) - Minister of Economy and Anti-Monopoly Policy Temir Sariev and IFC Investment Climate Advisory Services Project Manager Vsevolod Payevskiy discussed cooperation prospects at the meeting on February 13.

Minister Sariev noted the outcomes of the given Project and progress achieved during the last 2 years. All necessary decisions with regard to the legal framework were made, the Minister said.

Vsevolod Payevskiy said IFC works on investment climate, simplification of tax administration and improvement of business check system. The training component of the Project will focus on training of specialists, including trainings in the regions of the country.

The decision was made at the meeting to sign the action plan between the Ministry of Economy and IFC Climate Investment Advisory Services Project on creation of the database for checks as part of implementation of the law of the Kyrgyz Republic on order of business checks.

State Agency for Geology plans to open its office in southern Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek (AKIpress) - The office of the State Agency for Geology will be opened in southern Kyrgyzstan, which will process applications for deposit development and permits, Geology Agency's Stats Secretary Nabi Eshnazarov said during the lecture delivered for governors of rayons on February 10.

The working commission for license issuance was not formed yet. “There were lots of problems with issuance of licenses lately, but a new commission will be formed soon,” he said.

Around 300 licenses are issued annually, but the same number of licenses is recalled, the Stats Secretary said. “They were issued free of charge initially, but they are issued now for a fee depending upon the deposit, area, composition of the deposit and other factors,” he said.
