Supply lines are cut -- just like power is the first thing to go in a fire ------------ so too do enemies target your supply lines.
What will happen in a future war if Australia is threatened?
If the food supply lines are cut from Australia -- where will the food come from?
NW Tasmania still supplies a huge percentage of OZ fresh - mostly transported by the 2 Spirits and a Toll boat ----

You would want to be bloody sure of the security of those boats.
Other than that -- mainland farming is on the ropes.
Still plenty of grain and meat, but vegetable produce is seriously under threat.
Is there anyone out there who thinks there is little or no chance of war in the future??
A small study of history of the last century should cement the view that Australia is putting itself at enormous risk here.
This is not the Australia of a few decades ago - where at least people lived in houses with a back garden and enough water to grow a few things ---------
our cities now are pocket hankie sized blocks with bugger all water for gardening and millions of mouths to feed.
We can't do that.
We have also lost farming expertise - lots of it.
You will still be able to eat in the country - as it always has been - as long as you have the water.
But in a city? Multi millions of hungry mouths if the supply lines are cut ---------- this would not be pretty.
Wake up Oz - or one day you will be eating a lot of bread and biscuits and a bit of meat and nothing else.
Greens/fruit will be like gold.
imo -------- secure farming and secure those bloody boats.
