How about putting it this way Buck, If Carter has done so badly, and if Suda is such a basket case with absolutely no hope for the future, why the hell would a person of Hopper's calibre risk wasting his time or possibly damage to his reputation by accepting the role of Chairman???
In short, contrary to your belief, it would be fair to assume the company must be in reasonable shape!!!
