Isn't that just like -

That leaves military power as the only means to get rid of the Gaddafi regime and to bring an end to the suffering of the Libyan people. (It hasn't.)

and

That leaves military power as the only means to get rid of the Hussein regime and to bring an end to the suffering of the Iraqi people. (It hasn't.)

Perhaps the motives for using mighty military power have nothing to do with bringing "an end to the suffering of the people".
