Wrong. They would like to see whichever regime controls Syria, will accept that Israel is there to stay and to be recognized as not only being a Jewish state but in fact is and will be the only Jewish state in the world. They will have to accept or at least live with the the understanding that as a Jewish state, and the only democracy in the entire Middle East, it has the right to defend itself in order to secure it's existence.
The Israeli psyche is "leave us alone, and you'll be left alone. Attempt to destroy Israel but you do so at your own peril".
Assad followed that line for many years and was left alone, however whether as a flunky of some foreign power (Iran) or self induced madness orchestrated by Hezbolla or some other lunatic faction, he decides to create life threatening issues aimed at Israel, naturally Israel will do what ever it needs to put the genie/s back in the bottle. Hopefully the genie/s will stay in the bottle if he/they is/are convinced he/they will be destroyed, in the event he/they do not.
