Don't disagree with your analysis.
What I had missed with ASL (and other mining service companies) was the ability of miners to defer over burden removal and target higher better rocks in times of low prices and also defer maintenance.
These matters catch up with mining companies,and we should see a turnaround in activity over coming periods.
