"Does anyone ever lose or gain an actual financial advantage as a result of trading halt followed by moving the decimal point?"
In theory there should be absolutely no change to the adjusted share price (eg, ten times the pre consolidation price) since the value of the company has not changed. However, where the SP is strongly influenced by retailers and traders they often see the bigger SP as a problem and may cause it to drop. IMU though, now has a lot of real investors and the market cap of the company would likely not reduce a lot, if at all.
