I also had Telstra Cable Broadband. I also transferred to nbn via a smaller company that specialises in Fixed Line Broadband. The nbn connection in my area uses bandwidth on the same cable.

    My Transition was seamless.
My plan was $20 less per month than the Telstra plan.

Competitors can make money at a much lower price point because they need simpler systems and interfaces between the Telstra systems were a pile of spaghetti which doesn't appear to have changed. A nightmare for customer support. I wouldn't buy Telstra shares under any circumstances.

Footnote: When Malcolm designated the Multi Technology Mix for nbn he doomed them to the same fate. Different Fault Management, Billing, Provisioning, Service Management, Support Complexity etc for each technology (and not automated). Provisioning for Fibre services was Fully Automated once the end point was connected to the property (no truck calls etc.). If people had any idea of the additional maintenance overhead caused by MTM they'd shake their head, it dwarfs any "supposed" cost savings in changing the model.

Your experience is just one direct result of that decision.
