I notice persistent a error amongst ABC program presenters introducing guests from US universities.
Most HC readers would know that titles for office within university's in US follow a different practice than here in Oz.
In US every lecturer is given title professor, or associate professor if junior. Here there is only one professor per department.
Thus it is misleading to introduce Joe Yank as Associate Professor in Government at XYZ University. It would be more informative to say they are AN associate professor which correctly identified they are not the department head.
Of course it is dubious whether any academic in US or Australian universities is balanced.
But when was balance a requirement persuedd by ABC?
