Agree with you on this. A modern well placed nuclear plant is an excellent source of non-air polluting power.
Also as the very safe thorium and fusion reactors become viable in the not too distant future they could gradually replace uranium as a fuel, eliminating the dangerous spent fuel from burning uranium.
