The following is an extract from thata rticle,

"Energy Minister Geoff Wilson yesterday confirmed commercial UCG plants would have to gain tenure under the Petroleum Act - a move that could effectively force them out because CSG operators already had such licences.

"If they want to go into full production we have indicated that that would need a petroleum facilities licence," he said. But he denied the Government had "picked a winner", saying the UCG industry was never guaranteed operating rights with just a mining licence.

"We want to develop a policy position that is in the best interests of all stakeholders," he said."

You know the bit I find most interesting is that LNC will require a Petroleum Licence BUT guess what, CXY will not on the basis that theya re not producing liquids, so a Mining Licence is all that they require.

From this point of view, CXY could be the ONLY UCG company that Queensland allows to progress. And there I've been saying that the risk of UCG energy production is considerably less than the risk of UCG liquid production. Perhaps this is the first real step to prove that is correct.
