J J, well, if there are so many disadvantages to induction motors, and tototy, if they are so difficult to use in cars with DC power, why are Tesla and Toyota using them in preference to DC motors? Especially Toyota, who have used DC motors for years in the hybrids.

Perhaps you should write to their technical departments telling them they are nuts for such an approach.

Or, you could list the advantages:

Induction motors are simple and rugged in construction

Induction motors are cheaper in cost due to the absence of brushes, commutators, and slip rings (and expensive Nd magnets!)

They are maintenance free motors unlike dc motors and synchronous motors due to the absence of brushes, commutators and slip rings.

Induction motors can be operated in polluted and explosive environments as they do not have brushes which can cause sparks

3 phase induction motors will have self starting torque, hence no starting methods are employed unlike synchronous motor

And "all the tiny motors that move windows, wipers etc. must be from Neodimium" - never used to be Nd - sometimes they never used electric motors at all! Then you have the new Nd deposits coming on line.
