Totoy. I'm don't know the specifics about the advantages and disadvantages of the competing technologies. My point is more that the western REE extraction and refining industry needs to get its act together so that manufacturing R&D doesn't go looking for substitutes.

Given what we know now, I am extremely bullish on the future of Neodymium, due mainly to a wind power industry that is predicted to boom in East Asia - including to offshore sites. However that doesn't mean that while the current state of Neodymium supply is the status quo that there aren't scientists doing R&D to find substitutes.
