Janti, your position is a bit simplistic.
From the start of this discussion I've said that there are alternatives in the various technologies.
As I understand it the Tesla motor is pretty good but not as good as the Prius one. On the question of cost I'm not sure, a balance between complexity (Tesla) and (previously) expensive materials (Prius).
However I understand the clincher for tesla at present is availibility! You don't commit to spend a fortune on manufacturing something without confidence you can get the raw materials. And you may be reluctant to commit to manufacture in China if you want to preserve your IP.
That's where Lynas will be the game changer.
There'll always be alternatives to REE but in many instances this 15% of the periodic table will be the best choice.
