How is that even a question?
On the one hand there's allegedly a virus that gives you 'mild flu like symptoms' and then you totally recover IF you catch it. On the other hand you have experimental gene altering technology that destroys your immune system, turns you into a disease carrier and has life-long consequences.
The choice is simple IMO.
