Nick and JP would have had discussions, no more than that. From those discussions JP would have taken it on themselves to set everything up. From there it's a good chance it was a case of JP saying 'we know we can get you (x) amount this way' rather than Nick approaching JP with 'do you think we could do (y)? '.
The groundwork from JP to know where there commitments were isn't hard and once everything is in place the process is quite fast. Given how fast the fill was and that it was over the weekend (mostly) makes me fairly sure it was all pre-arranged by JP.
