CO2 storage is the issue ... seams suitable for UCG are said to be too shallow and poorly confined to be reliable reservoirs - we don't have many depleted oil fields .. but Mosiac are now pushing the depleted gas field they hold .. (worth watching MOS), after that it seems the most suitable CSG basins are all in QLD - though Gunnedah is said to have potential.

Whoever can marry ucg and carbon capture and storage will win a noble prize .. imho ... but mostly innovation is incremental hence the attraction of cxy's business model
