renee s anomaly in your situation, if you had two people standing side by side then they are directly comparable.
If you alter the position of one they are not comparable and methods would have to be implemented to make them comparable.... such as a logarithmic perspective scale.
Which is exactly what Gann has done, so your argument actually validates this.
Putting it in other words, if the market peaked at exactly the same price it did in 1987 (standing side by side) then the declines are directly comparable on a normal scale.
If they are not (same as changing the position of the people) i.e. changing the price the market peaks out, then a percentage or logarithmic scale is required to compare them.
Otherwise it’s comparing a lemon to a bug.
