Further research was reassuring.
In Vulcan's presentation on 16/03/20, on p.8 at the bottom of the page they list "DLE Plants in Development". They include Lilac Solutions!! A plant specifically designed for geothermal brine! Yes there are DLE plants currently in production, mainly in the lithium in brine triange in northern South America. But only California and the Rhine Valley in Germany have geothermal brine containing economic levels of Lithium(so far). Vulcan has 2X the concentration of the Californian field.
So in time, there will be 2 zero carbon emissions Lithium producers. Its all about location location. One for Europe, one for the USA. Hard rock Lithium producers, like in Australia, could suffer. The EU will not accept a product to be used in batteries with a high carbon footprint.
