I'm not sure any of these fund managers will ever admit fault or mistakes it would hurt their ego, all they do is like you said focus on the 1 or 2 glass half full items like trading below NTA. That probably wont ever change. If you want passive no risk management prob better in an eft with reduced fees.
BUt I imagine most in CDM have become addicted to the sexy divvy they have paid and the pressure for this has led to some poor choices. For those who are in its pretty bad right now, for those just buying in at discounted NTA the glass is probably half full. Everyone's perspective is different.
