Don't you think Optus might want a fair commercial return on thier asset? Not sure if you've noticed but NBN is not prepared to pay fair commercial rates for the assets they want, it's kind of what the entire issue really boils down to.
The only reason Telstra competitors support the plans is that no matter how much it hurts them in the short and long term it hurts telstra a lot worse, it's alot easier to kill a whale when it's already been speared(just ask the Japanese).
