Why do I get the feeling some posters here have a SIGNIFICANT % of their capital invested in Continental?
IF SO,then YOU have made your bed. There is nothing to have stopped you from selling as it went for its slide which started way back when(?), which imo is more a result of a poor market with slow project development and initial fund manipulation UP.
You should always invest commensurate with the risk you perceive which means you should be CONSTANTLY assessing the % of a stock you hold against any risks. If you think the dilutive attitude of the company is not creating enough value then you should take the appropriate action.
Isnt this what funds do every day?
Its why the market goes up and down!!!
I have a significant % of my capital invested in CCC ords and will continue to do so until they start to dilute with NO value adding.
As Brendan mentioned, this issue was to pay out the Mashala balance WHICH CREATES FURTHER SIGNIFICANT VALUE for the company, as it results in a big proportion of future earnings going to the bottom line, apart from the fact that this transaction was flagged right back when they did the original issue at the end of 2010.It was set in stone that the Mashala balance was to be paid for by cash or shares within 12 months of the first 60% of Mashala bought.
If you bought shares AND HELD THROUGH THESE TRANSACTIONS then you should have been asking yourselves then hard question then "do I like a company that issues shares to enable such transactions".
I cant see how any investor could have seen the completion of the Mashala tansaction going any other way.ITS SOMETHING ANY HOLDER SHOULD HAVE EXPECTED.
YES,Continental MUST NOW DELIVER on these finacial initiatives. They have refinanced previously poorly structured debt to enable project development and its time they got on with this development.
As far as the consolidation goes they do state that it will take place in August and that its contingent on some significant transactions taking place.
This, in actual fact, is still a lot sooner than I thought it would be done and MAY flag that Socius will not be dumping their holdings on market as, if this was to be the case, surely they would want the manipulative 3B+ structure retained well past August. It took Macquarie/OchZiff several months to work the sp up to 9c and sell into,I cant see how this could be done by any fund any other way in such a depressed market unless they dumped at a significant loss and Socius is paying a premium to market with each tranche.
Also on the consolidation, whoever purchases shares post consolidation will be looking at some significant EPS on a CONDOLIDATED BASIS.Yes they still will have to purchase the same % of market capital to attain the EPS but its the perceived EPS that I think will attract bigger funds.
The SO-CALLED FREE options are FREE only in that it gives these takers THE FREE OPTION TO PURCHASE at a later date a predetermined price. So there is still cash to be forthcoming from the conversion of these options. No problems for the takers IF theoptions are in the money and can either be sold to raise the capital OR be paid for with cash.Either way its money into Continental via the market or from the takers coffers. So they are hardly FREE in this regard.
How Continental is viewed by THIS holder pretty much starts from NOW on the basis of how they can now value-add by getting on with what they started with in purchasing Mashala in the first place.
The important thing to realise is that Continental SHOULD emerge in the next few months as holding 100% of Mashala with all consequent revenue/profit going to them AND with a BBBEE that will have the capacity to pay its way through each project. The BBBEE certainly will have the funds to do so from all reports. This will also position Continental in a much more favourable BEE political position in which their profits WILL significantly contribute to a CDT fund (the BBBEE) which can actually action BBE aims/targets of the political system.
Time can only tell with Socius, but I certainly havnt seen any info or posts to date that reveal them
as a fund that sells into anything other than a company that FUNDAMENTALLY adds value via project development.Unless this is all a giant fraud we will see just whether this is the case in the coming months imo.
